This was one of my first trees. I was quite proud of it’s first styling and thought the roots (nebari) looked interesting. Pathetic little thing was stolen if you can believe it, with 4 other little early projects including my very first tree which was a boxwood.

A quick sketch last week for a thread at the shane glines forum on astroboy. Fun character, and different from my usual sketching fare, so I think I’ll put some time into it when I have a chance.

This Western Hemlock was given to me by a fellow who lives down the road and has a wonderful collection. I visited him once to view his trees and as I was leaving this tree with a great taper caught my eye…he said I could have it.
