mr Bus Driver

I’m not in the habit of discoursing with strangers in public transit and it’s generally something I avoid if at all possible. But somehow the driver of the bus I take, and i, got to talking about something or other and consequently have a nice chat every morning when I get on the bus.
The conversation is usually short and about mundane things like kids and grandkids (I have the one, he the other), mowing lawns, and hobbies, but he’s a really nice fellow and I’m finding it a great way to start the day.

Another Question

I happened to catch The Question of God again this week. Circumstances provided that I was actually able to see it from the beginning only missing the last half-hour this time. For joy!
I loved the produced segments with the actors of Lewis and Freud and getting a bit of history there. I suppose with the constraints of a TV show both thinkers world views were not perfectly presented and so maybe the strengths of particular ideas were not fully developed but with the commentary, insights and assesments of current ’smart guys’ and those very familiar with the men it filled in the gaps somewhat.

I still found the roundtable discussion very uncomfortable. I thought often the topic was lost shortly after the question was asked.

My mom and I had a nice discussion on the phone after the program, and I wonder how many others will have some very interesting conversations stemming from this show and the topics it presents.

CSS to CS Lewis

Just managed to catch the end of a PBS special, last night, I had been wanting to watch called The Question of God . Pretty even handed presentation of both men as far as I can tell with some nice dramitization and a round table discussion with representatives from different schools of thought.

Lots of really interesting issues are brought up, but what struck me while watching it was that the discussion sounded all too familiar. For some reason when I hear folks better educated or more erudite than myself I expect the discussion and answers to questions asked to be more complicated or something I hadn’t heard before. But its all the same old stuff…
