Superman
I walked past Superman today.
I was told months ago by a security guard that the two wharehouses behind our place, that got taken over a couple of years ago, are where they shoot ‘Smallville’. I’d walk to public transit between these two warehouses most days (which is in a non-descript ‘back-alley’ type area in Burnaby) I thought it was neat to see old wooden stalls with pairs of matching vehicles; two police cars, two new beetles, two old trans ams or beater trucks, etc. Sometimes there’d be signage that would say ‘Extras’ with arrows and once in awhile some set up with big lights on a Cherry Picker.
Have never seen anyone of repute in all my jaunts past the place, but today I happened to walk by the guy who plays the superkid. I don’t watch the show and don’t know his name, but it was neat just the same. If only for the fact that someone from TV hangs out in such a funny place. These warehouses are really in the middle of nowhere amidst abandoned railroad track and graffiti covered businesses, and for some reason I’ve always imagined TV shows being shot in nicer places.
Rusting
I need a bumber sticker on our 16yr old Honda Civic Hatchback that says “My other car is rusting in the driveway”.
It’s funny cuz it true. (sob)
Grind debacle
So I turn the dial all the way- setting our grinder to process a goodly portion of those wonderful beans and go back to my desk to commence work. Upon returning I realise that somehow I hadn’t noticed that the ‘grind receptical’ was not seated correctly in its holder and the fine smelling, fine grind had been shooting out all over the counter and floor of the kitchen. A nice mound of coffee clung vertically to the adjacent knife block and coffee drifts lined the backsplash. Amy’s words from last night ring in my ears; “make sure you put the grind cup in properly…”
… I’m in trouble…
It’s a Fresh new Year
Having a few new projects start in the new year seems appropriate. Feels like a good fresh start to the year.
Have been working with FrontierPC.com here and there and really enjoying it. A really nice group of people. It would be nice to be able to overhaul the site in one big go, as doing bits and bobs here and there detract from my ‘glorious vision’…, but it makes for some interesting design challenges.
Also had my first day at Navarik.com doing much the same. Graphic gun fer hire. Again, a wonderful environment, great people, and interesting projects. Looking forward to what I’m able to contribute there and learning a lot.
I continue to plug away with where2eat.ca doing maintenance, updates, and the like. I am pleased the site is well recieved and motivated to keep it looking spiffy…or at least tasty.
Looking forward to a busy and interesting year.
