Celebration of Light
Mom was down last weekend from the Okanagan and stayed awhile longer to catch the HSBC Celebration of Light. We’re still not sure in the seven or so years I’ve been on the coast and six or so times I’ve seen the fireworks that she’d managed to never be around to join us. So it was something quite different for her to see that number of people downtown and I think she enjoyed that probably more than the fireworks themselves.
We did get there relatively early and had time to grab a hamburger and hotdog from Fatburger…first time I’ve even heard of that place let alone ate any of their food, but evidently they are well know for their tasty offerings. I wasn’t blown away with the taste, but what really impressed was the speed and efficiency of their operation in getting food to so many customers so fast considering the melee . Someone’s deffinately on the ball there-not sure whether it’s corporate policy or a great manager but I left happy.
Did manage to get one or two nice pictures of the event. Here’ a few:

Insurance Site Mock UP
With intentions of cleaning my plate of current projects and making time for my family and more important things, I inadvertantly said yes to another project. Anticipating a booked up week I banged out this quick mock-up yesterday evening which went over well happily. Looking forward to moving forward with it.
Tomorrow’s the starting of the big fireworks in town which mom has never seen for some reason so we’ll battle the crowds and take her there, and the next days my inaugural return to the gym after a few years hiatus which I’m sure I need, but am not entirely looking forward to. Somewhere I have to fit in meeting a buddy for a movie and other project obligations – busy week.
That is to say I’m not very good at cleaning off my plate.
DSM: Done & Stopped Moving
My poor, poor Laser. Once the apple of my eye, now fallen on hard times. She has seen better days for sure. Note entire front of the car being taken over by some green substance I’ve yet to identify.

You wouldn’t know it to look at ‘er but she’s a 2.0 litre twin cam 16 valve turbo with cat back exhaust, boost control, and minor intake and suspension upgrades. It wasn’t long after the suspension upgrades that I parked her where she was to stay for longer than anticipated.
We used to dream of more, of better, of faster days with more boost…
Car top carrier has no where else to be put and is not actually this car’s accessory. It’s looking forward to being attached to the top of the Subie for our ‘Family Camping Adventure’ next month.
1st Gossip Island mock-up
Working from the initial logo I somehow managed to mock-up a homepage that may work on it’s own, but didn’t work with the logo at all. Consequently it wasn’t well recieved. Looking at it now, a different logo and the page would fit together much better. I think this style suits the content fairly well.
But at any rate my next mock-up will take a different approach. Simpler, larger fonts, more whitespace, judicious rounded rectangles and simple icons where appropriate. After re-evaluating the first mock-up it was decided that was the direction to try; so here I go…
a Car
Just a doodle for fun. Would you doodle for anything else? Would like it to turn into something nice… just like that…*poof*.
