The problem with a ‘last train’.
I missed my alarm yesterday morning somehow (Pretty sure I set it…) but at any rate woke up and hour late with half hour to catch the last train to work.
The panic commenced and I had to wake up Amy to give me a ride as a bus to the train wasn’t an options. Waking up Amy means waking up the boys so it was to be a quick family adventure to see the train. Our 4year old loves trains so it wasn’t hard to motivate him to get dressed and into the car and the youngest is still to young to put up a good fight.
We got to the station, parked, with the train whistle sounding just as we were running to the platform. I was going to make it! What a coup! It was raining and here was our little family standing on the platform without umbrellas, our youngest boy still in jim-jams as the train came to a stop. I waved goodbye to them and moved toward the door…And remembered…My train pass was on the bathroom counter.
How you celebrate 8yrs of marriage…
Amy and I managed to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary in a slightly belated fashion with some cheescake Amy had rushed out at 11:00 or so to get; pieces of which we romantically wolfed-down together around 2am before falling asleep on the couch.
The funny thing was I had written just yesterday on my to-do list ‘Get card for Amy’ which I’d planned to do ‘out of the blue for no occasion just to let her know I’m thinkin’ of her’ not realising there was indeed an occasion I should probably be getting a card for.
Anniversary you say?
So amidst the crying baby and 4yr old running around and me banging my head against the desk with work Amy walks in and says “I didn’t hear the phone either…your Mom left a message.”
…
“She says Happy Anniversary”
Second year in a row we’ve both completely forgotten. Not good…
