My name is Darren Bockman and I am a Visual and User Interface/Experience Designer with Navarik Corp in Vancouver, British Columbia. That means I split my time at work illustrating diagrams, creating icons, design documentation, business cards and any marketing or print material but perhaps more importantly application layouts, mockups and interface elements as well as being part of the product development team helping out with the process of determining the user interaction and experience.

I’m married to a wonderful woman who puts up with me and my bad habits and many hobbies and all I must endure in return is a healthy dose of nagging. Good trade-off if you ask me. We have two wonderful little boys at very vigorous ages; 10 months and 4 years old.

Hobbies I have and in spades.

Bonsai: I visit nurseries looking for suitable shrubberies and trees from which to create and maintain bonsai.

Illustration: I’m a digital artist and do digital paintings and some freelance illustration.

Photography: During the where2eat.ca project I had the opportunity to take thousands and thousands of pictures of delicious food. I’m learning and love photography and my Nikon D70.

Web Design: I create websites. I’m a fan of nice design. I read books and blogs.

Theology: Although faith is not a hobby and informs all areas of my life,…reading is. I’m interested in Reformed theology and the puritans in particular.

Automotive: My old Plymouth Laser RS-Turbo (A DSM – Eagle Talon, Mitsubishi Eclipse) sits and rusts currently.

Outdoor pursuits: I love skiing, mountain biking and camping.
